The story revolves around the 1970s in Bombay, where a bank employee Gustad Noble lives in a chawl with a room and a single bed. He lives with his wife and 3 children.

Love brew between them and they are ready to get married. So Farhad introduces Shirin to his mother and now the problem arises, she rejects her and they both couldn't stand each other. Now what, will Farhad be still unmarried?

Rustom is a handsome Indian Naval Officer who lives with his beautiful wife. Everything was going fine when one day Rustom returns from a trip and discovers that his wife is having affair with a businessman Vikram. Firstly, he confronts his wife and then looks for Vikram.

Finally, he found him at his home and the confrontation took place between the two. Then 3 gunshot firing sound was heard by a servent who then witnessed Rustom coming out of room with a gun in his hand, and Vikram lying dead in his room.

Then Rustom surrenders to the police and an investigation is started. Vikram's sister hired a famous criminal lawyer so that Rustom could not get bail and receive the toughest sentence in court.

This movie is loosely based on Nanavati case, one of the most celebrated cases of India.
