7 Sushant Singh Rajput Movies Not to Miss

Sushant started his career on a small screen in a TV serial Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil, but go popularity in the Pavitra Rishta TV serial, where he played the character of Manav and became the household name.

Then he got his first big break on a big screen and starred in Kai Po Che, where he proved his potential and then he never looked back.

He was next Shahrukh Khan in making who also started his career in a small screen and the rest is history. But, in June 2020, Sushant shocked everyone by committing suicide (case is under investigation).

His career in Bollywood was short-lived which was of only 7 years, during this period he was able to give us some good and memorable films. So, below I have listed some of his movies that you should not miss.

1. Kai Po Che (2013)

Debut movie of Sushant Singh Rajput which won him accolades and his first Filmfare award in the category of best debut actor. The movie is the visual adaptation of ‘The 3 Mistakes of My Life’ book by Chetan Bhagat.

Three friends (Rajput, Amit Sadh and Rajkumar Rao) who dreamed big and opened cricket training academy, but soon they realize it is not a piece of cake as they have many hurdles to cross to achieve their dream.

2. Shuddh Desi Romance (2013)

Another big cake in Sushant’s pocket from Yash Raj Films. The movie focuses on coming-of-age romance and live-in relationships of young couples. Rajput played a confused young man when it comes to commitments. After this movie, he became heartthrob among younger generations.

3. Detective Byomkesh Bakshy! (2015)

Another underrated gem from Yashraj Banner. Who remembers watching TV serial Byomkesh Bakshi in the 90s which was an instant hit and Rajit Kapur played the character of Indian-Bengali detective. This magic was recreated again on a big screen where Rajput played Byomkesh and he nailed it. If you have not watched it, then you should.

4. M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story (2016)

Biopic of Mahendra Singh Dhoni, an undisputed cricket player. Rajput played Dhoni and impressed the audience as well as critics.

If you compare the life stories of Dhoni and Rajput in most of the parts you will find similarities, like Dhoni, who came from a non-cricket background and from a small place, struggled and achieved his dream.

Rajput also came from a non-filmy background, started from a small screen and made his presence in big screen. In this movie Rajput proved his potential as a complete actor.

5. Kedarnath (2018)

A light-hearted love story of young boy and girl, where Sushant played a Muslim boy who saves a girl (Sara Ali Khan) from the floods at small pilgrimage in Uttrakhand.

6. Sonchiriya (2019)

Focused on dacoits of Chambal in the time period of 1970s. In this movie, Rajput broke his image of a lover boy and played a character of a rugged and fearful dacoit. His efforts did not get waste as he got his due credit from critics, but still, this is under the list of underrated movies.

7. Chhichhore (2019)
